Your audience IS your business!
If I had to start a brand new business there are 3 steps I would follow.
I mean a brand new business with no followers, no audience, no offer…nothing.
Kind of like being dropped in the middle of nowhere and told to start a business.
(hmmm reality tv show idea?)
Here is exactly what I would do in 3 steps.
Wait, change “would” to “am doing” because this is a NEW business.
I’m literally following these 3 steps, one by one and I’m currently in step 1.
STEP 1 – Attract your Audience
In order to have a business we need fans, followers, an audience, whatever you want to call it.
We need people who know who we are, like who we are, and trust who we are.
Make no mistake. You could have the best product in the world but if no one knows about it, then you don’t have a business.
Right now I’m attracting my audience.
How do we do that?
There are 2 ways.
Marketing Based Content & Connection Based Content.
Marketing Based Content is all your one way street content. Meaning your audience can absorb it without interacting with you.
Blogs, podcasts, emails, youtube videos, etc.
There is no interaction happening with your audience but they can definitely begin to know you, like you, and trust you.
This type of content is amazing because it lives forever! Meaning it will keep working to attract your audience for years to come. Forever!
Marketing based content is amazing for attracting new people to your business.
It allows them to quietly observe you and your education from a distance and make a decision as to whether or not they like you.
After they’ve digested some of your content and want some more, it’s probably time for some Connection Based Content.
Connection Based Content, is any type of content that allows for an interaction.
Zoom workshops, FB lives, live streams, live chat, one on one calls.
Any type of experience that allows for a TWO-WAY interaction between you and your audience.
This type of content is great for furthering your relationship with your followers.
This will help build a stronger bond and allows them to connect with you in a deeper way.
This will become useful in step 3. 🙂
STEP 2 – Nurture Your Audience
Have you ever met a new friend and hung out for a couple of months, then all of a sudden, had them just disappear?
Then 3 months later they call you up and say “What’s up? Wanna hang out?”.
How would you feel?
Probably crappy right. They probably have lost all the trust they earned in the beginning of your relationship.
This concept holds true for your audience.
Once someone connects with you on some level, through your marketing based content or your connection based content, it’s VERY important for you to show up CONSISTENTLY!
Otherwise, all the trust you built with them will be gone.
Don’t disappear, and make sure you’re continuously showing up and delivering value to your audience.
STEP 3 – Offer Your Audience Something at Cost
Step 3 is to offer your audience a product, program or something for cost.
Now why is important for this to be at cost?
Because it shows your audience that you’re worth something.
If you’re consistently delivering free information, then that’s all you are…free.
Plus, it’s the absolute BEST way for you to help deliver results to them.
And guess what? That creates referrals and word of mouth.
Many business thrive on referrals and word of mouth ALONE!
Literally with these 3 easy steps you can’t go wrong. They’re the corner stone to any successful business.
Like I said, I’m currently in step 1 and I’m definitely not going anywhere.
